As mentioned in the last newsletter there was some exciting things happening in the Collins family and as promised here is a report from Ann on the events
The exhibition was very successful with about 100 people turning up on the night. Sold a few paintings and smaller works during the week. Was very pleased with the result. As for Andrew there is no winner its just the top 30 entrepreneurs in Australia. The results were published in the Australian Anthill Magazine - June/July issue. Andrew's article is on page 56. The following is the article that featured in the magazine . ..
Andrew Collins realized that he was entrepreneurial at the age of six when trading unwanted Christmas gifts with friends and selling marbles in the school yard. He earned his stripes as a door to door salesman and by 21 he was importing and selling perfume. Within a few years he had established an ME&A consultancy, working with large private fund managers. Last year Collins decided to get into the Chinese market and bought a foreign advertising company, Mailman, which is now one of the largest alternative media companies in China, with a presence in 20 cities and an audience that conservatively reaches 10 million consumers a month. He is currently launching a new mobile channel in 250 internet cafes in shanghai. After seizing his own lucrative slice of the emerging Chinese market,we are tipping Collins still has a few tricks up his sleeve.
Zac Wood (Michael's son) was awarded a “trip of a lifetime” and goes for a 5 day in-house camp with the Fremantle Dockers this week – the itinerary looks amazing – a group of 16 boys selected from all over West Australia go in house with the Dockers. He stays at the Quest Apartments in Freo, is mentored with a player, has a full time chaperone and gets to partake in a mix of activities including dietetic services, cooking classes, boxing, training, fitness testing, watching a match, a tour of Subi Oval, media training, breakfast lunch and dinner at some great cafes/restaurants, gala auction etcetera. He has just had his first scooter lesson and finished his first round of exams.
