Bellman's at Kangaroo Island

At Easter the Bellman family (Helen, Mick & kids ) plus Nanna (Lorraine Wood) and another family of 5 plus 5 small tents went on a 19 day camping trip to South Australia and Kangaroo Island.  Kangaroo Island is about 150 kms long and 50 kms wide and is South of Adelaide between the Great Southern Ocean and Bass Strait . We had 3 overnight campsites on the way at Dunkeld, Naracourte & Deep creek Conservation Park and finally to Cape Jervis where there is a 45min ferry trip across to the Island. We stayed 7 nights at Flinders Chase National Park at the west end of the island. The wildlife of wallabies, kangaroos and possums were so friendly that they almost ate our table. (They would if we let them). After this we stayed two nights at Kingscote, the major town on the island at the east end.

We went out every day and visited as much as we could. They had beautiful beaches where we went swimming and boogie boarding (and we even got Nanna boogie boarding). We saw “Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch”, Seal Bay, Lighthouses, A Eucalyptus distillery, A honey farm, a sheeps Dairy, pelican feeding, fishing, penguins and plenty of beautiful wilderness areas and wildlife. After the ferryy back to the mainland we caught a Car ferry across the Murray river at Wellington and traveled along the Fleurieu peninsula. We camped at the Coorongs, Beachport and traveled to the Limestone Coast to Mt Gambier. We spent two nights on the Glenelg river at Nelson and then along the shipwreck coast to the Otways where we went on the Treetops walk and finally home through Colac. A fantastic trip!

Chris and Maureen:

Long service leave coming up in 2006. Have been 10 years in Wangaratta since leaving Mansfield. Just booked our overseas trip commencing August 2006. Thus we have one year to plan our itinery covering about six weeks. New York - Ireland - Scotland - England - France - Singapore - Oz.

  • Anthony   Had a brief one week visit to Sydney recently after almost 4 years in New York. Parents drove up from Wangaratta on a weekend to see him!! In September he is heading to Spain for a month of R & R plus involved in some capacity in a movie that is being completed.  This was the last report but always subject to change with our No. 1 son.
  • Gerard   Is back living in Brighton since March and working part time at Crown Towers managing spa and gym. Is now a member of the Sandringham Athletic Club and looking forward to competing in track events in the coming months. Is half way through completing his Diploma of Finance to complement his interest in stocks and shares.
  • Anna   Anna has recently formed a company called Random Events with her boyfriend Addam Crawford. They are both involved in freelance work for theatre and in particular companies involved with big events. Anna's skill is in the management roles while Addam is the lighting/sound/image projection guru. Anna recently returned to CSU at Wagga as a guest lecturer for 2 days to tell students of her experiences. The attachment is a newspaper article that appearedin the Wagga Daily Advertiser reporting her return to the Uni that helped launch her career.   Both Anna and Addam are heading overseas on the 7th November to London with the express intention of finding plenty of work in their fields of expertise. A month prior to leaving Addam will be working at the Macau 2005, 4th East Asian Games. Their company logo is "Lets Play"was designed by Anna's sister Beth which leads into her activities.
  • Beth   Beth successfully completed her degree in Graphic Design at LTU, Bendigo in November 2004. Celebrated her 21st birthday this same month as she was too busy in September. By March 2005, Beth had relocated to Sydney to take up a two month contract job with Now Events. This proved a great experience and allowed her the opportunity to be in a city that had the most to offer in the graphic design industry. In the meantime Beth also set up her own business called "The Girl with a Curl" to give her the vehicle to be able to do freelance work. As a consequence Beth has already done private work for four clients. Her big news however is that she landed a fantastic permanent job with Taurus Marketing in their creative department. Beth has now been with the company since mid June, is learning heaps and loving every minute. I attach her business card and the CV she emailed to Taurus that opened the door to her eventual employment.
  • Hope all this news not too much of a shock.
