George Stanley Wood served on the HMS Victory during his time as an engineer in the British Navy during the first world war. There is more information about George's war service.

The Hambledon was a Hunt Class Minesweeper. George served on this ship between January 1919 - June 1919. During this time the ship was sweeping the coast from Aberdeen, in the north of Scotland, to as far south as Portsmouth. The ship was sold for scrapping in 1922.
