Details
William Prowd was born in 1817 in Tipperary, Ireland. He married Mary Doolan in October 1847 in Offaly, Shinrone, Kings County, Ireland, Mary was born in 1818 in Offaly, Shinrone, Kings County, Ireland.
They arrived in Australia aboard the Subraon in 1848. They made a home for themselves in Victoria, and there are many descendants, mainly in Victoria.
In 1853, William bought blocks of land in the Mulgrave area of Victoria. A few acres of this went to his sister Jane and new husband Nicholas Doolan (his wife's brother). Nicholas has probably turned to his sister Mary for help after the death of his first wife and baby daughter on the voyage out from Ireland in 1851. Nicholas had a blacksmith shop in Huntingdale Rd, Mulgrave. (ref 1)
His wife Mary died in 1897 in Bonnie Doon. William died about four years later, in 1901, also in Bonnie Doon.
