Thomas Prowd was born in 1851 in Mulgrave, near Oakleigh (as listed on marriage certificate), or in South Yarra (Holy Trinity, Pentridge, now Coburg). His parents were William Prowd and Mary Doolan. His parents had come to Australia a few years earlier, in 1848.
Thomas married Elizabeth Mary Jewell on the 24th of March in 1880, in St George's Church of England Church, Malvern, Victoria. At the time, Thomas was 28 years old, Elizabeth 22. Elizabeth was born abt 1856 in South Yarra, to Peter Thomas Jewell and Harriet Anne Gilbert.
For both of them, their usual residence at the time of their marriage was Doon, near Mansfield, though Thomas was at the time living in Oakleigh and Elizabeth in Hotham.
Witnesses to their marriage was Mary Jane Prowd and Charles Prowd, probably his younger siblings by those names.
In 1903, Thomas and Elizabeth were living in Pakenham Victoria, as a farmer and home duties (Victoria 1903 Electoral Roll). Thomas' brother William may have been living at Bonnie Doon as a farmer.
Thomas died on the 27th September, 1920 in Lang Lang, Victoria. Below is the death notice as published in the Argus Newspapre on the 30th Sepember 1920.
His wife died in 1940 in Mentone, VIC.
